What a neat find! I "found" mine on Ebay for $25 lol. I know they were made in the late 1800's, early 1900 and used on children's saddles and sidesaddles. They were nice because they didn't allow your foot to slide all the way through and get caught up if you got into trouble. They were usually made of bronze or a brass "never rust" alloy. I will see if I can find anything else out about them for you! <br /><br />I like your blog! Metal detecting is so much fun, I wish I did it more often.
