A 140 mile day trip on the bike with Shadow and the Shadow Box to Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Getting ready for our first big road trip, this winter. Extra padding in the back for Shadow, and I think we are all set!

This was a very scenic trip. We took Arizona 95 it goes through the mountains with views of the river and the lake.
(I took this from a hand mirror that I carry, so I can check on Shadow while we are driving).
We were going about 60 MPH when I took this photo, he looks like he is doing okay!

We are amused by all the boondockers every where you go around here!

We cringed when we saw the dreaded orange signs, but were relieved when it was only a two minute delay.

I love that someone took the time to put an American flag up on this mountain top!

Once we got to Lake Havasu we went to the Visitor’s information center.
It was right by the world famous London Bridge.

We didn’t even know the bridge was there! We ended up having a picnic under the bridge, what an absolute beautiful view that was!

The London Bridge crossed over the Thames River in London, England for over 140 years, . It survived World war I and World War II. It also survived a terrorist attack in 1884. But when it started sinking into the Thames River in 1968, London decided to sell it, instead of repair it.
Robert P. McCulloch, founder of Lake Havasu City, Arizona purchased it for 2.5 million dollars. It took over 3 years and more than 7 million dollars to dismantle, transport and rebuild the bridge. Today, the London Bridge connects Lake Havasu City with an island in the lake. Its massive body of stone brings the essence of England to Arizona.
It was a full afternoon, we got back to the campground just as the sun was setting.
